Einige findige Leute haben offensichtlich ein Leck in den Fw Version 1.70 bis 1.81 gefunden, die es derzeit ermöglich Dateien auf die HDD der Ps3 zu kopieren. Dies ist ein erster Schritt zu Homebrew auf der Ps3. Der Hack funktioniert relativ komplex über eine Lücke des Network Codes.

Nach dem Bericht über den Hack in der Fw 1.8 hat Sony offenbar reagiert und einen Bugfix Update gebracht. Weiters wird ein Bug bei der Darstellung befixt: Die Option RGB Voller Bereich (HDMI) bleibt auch nach einem Neustart gesetzt.

Ab morgen soll die neue Fw 1.8 verfügbar sein. Folgende Änderungen wird sie mit sich bringen:
* Upscalen von DVDs (nur via HDMI), PS1 und PS2 Games auf eine Auflösung von bis zu 1080p
* Remote Funktion für die PSP. Somit ist ein Zugriff mit der PSP auf die Playstation 3 von jedem Ort möglich, Voraussetzung PSP Firmware 3.50 (Erscheint Ende Mai 2007)
* Ihr könnt Videos, Bilder und MP3s von eurem PC, via Netzwerk, auf die PS3 streamen
* Mit einigen Epson Druckern ist es nun möglich, gespeicherte Bilder (z.B. SD Karte) direkt von der Playstation, auszudrucken

Das InFeCtuS Team hat es erfolgreich geschafft eine Ps3 von Fw 1.6 auf 1.5 downzugraden. Über ihren NAND Programmer ist es möglich den NAND FLASH der PS3 neu zu beschreiben und so auch eine neue Fw Version.

Laut einigen Quellen arbeitet Sony an einer neuen Fw für die ps3. Wichtigste Änderung ist, dass man während des Spiels zurück ins XMB Hauptmenü springen kann und wieder retour. Weiter Änderungen sind im Detail:

Der Infectus ModChip ist ein Modchip für mehree Konsolen, auch für die PS3. Dort ermöglicht er das Laden der Fw von einem externen Speichermedium aus und kann so das Booten vom Flash umgehen. Auch wird die Emulation von höheren Fw Version über den Chip unterstützt. Mehr Infos:

“hacked2123″ hat eine Lücke in derMPEG Libary gefunden, die es ermöglicht den XMB crashen zu lassen. Das Exploit soll auf FW 1.10 und 1.11 laufen. Ab 1.31 wurde es gefixt.
Eventuell lässt sich damit unsignierter Code ausführen.
Falls du eine PS3 hast kannst du dir das Proof of Concept Video herunterladen und auf der PS3 ausprobieren. lass es uns wissen wie es verloffen ist.

Ist zwar nichts über die PSP aber trotzdem sehr interessant für alle hier.
Es sieht so aus, dass in der PS3 Firmware bis 1.51 Sicherheitslöcher vorhanden sind die es erlauben könnt unsignierten Code auszuführen.
Unter anderem eine potentielle Lücke in der Tiff Bibliothek.
So wie es sich anhört sind es mehrere.
Vielleicht kommt bald ein ISO Loader.

Ever wondered why the PS3 is such a better machine than a xbox360? simply because they implement too much stuff in one time! “SCEI” dont do that, you need to learn a bit more from Microsoft on this part even when they have forgotten a hypervision hack on kernel 4532 and 4548 they fixed it very fast! And what do we see on the PS3? Up until firmware 1.51 we still see holes! Why? You guys dont have the right persons to work with or is it just the pressure from the big boss? So for now dont update higher than 1.51 since 1.54 hasnt yet been tested, and 1.51 had a few tiny things fixed, but it didnt stop us much
Ohhh btw ever wondered if those updates are required on a disc? Actually all games up to now work without any update
